Check the number in an Anki cloze error
Paste the plain text of one cloze field. Check a number reported in an absent-cloze error, or compare an earlier version to see which numbered groups changed. This is a text check, not Anki’s card engine.
Check your field
Enter the actual reported number—not a gap you guessed. We check only this pasted field, not the real card or template.
No earlier version? Leave comparison off; a reported number can still be checked against the current text. No previous card list is invented.
Read the result carefully
- Several markers with the same number belong to the same group. Numbers can have gaps;
c1andc3do not imply an error. - A removed number might leave a previously generated card without its deletion. We do not know whether that card exists in your collection.
- A reported number marked present or absent is checked only in the supplied text. Other fields, templates and existing cards have not been inspected; it is not proof of the error’s cause.
- A retained number means only the number is present in both texts—not the same answer, fact or schedule.
- Nested clozes, multi-index syntax, HTML/entities, media, empty bodies and custom templates return UNKNOWN here. They may be supported by Anki.
- This tool supports flat lower-case single-index
{{c1::text}}markers, optional hints, IDs 1–999, 32,768 UTF-16 units and 256 markers per field.
Use Anki’s own Browse/Preview and error guidance for the actual note type, templates, existing cards, add-ons and review queue. Inspect any proposed cleanup and make a backup first. This tool does not renumber, fix, import or delete anything.
Local, temporary text
The text check has no analytics, upload, account, storage or remote processing dependency. Your pasted text stays in this page’s memory. Website loading still sends ordinary request metadata to hosting and network providers. Clear your text with the button or leave the page. Private/incognito mode is recommended on a shared computer; browsers and extensions remain outside this tool’s control. See the privacy explanation.
